A day at Saylorville!

These kids came from Sheffield, Ia. just for photos! I had a blast with them. We hit 3 different spots at Saylorville. We had a GREAT overcast day, you would have never guessed it but it was humid. Mom and I were happy we weren't in the pictures because we were sweating like crazy. It was just one of those days. The kids didn't seem to mind and splashed around, throwing rocks, digging in the sand, running around, and climbing. I love that they were just being kids!

I love the way Andyn is off in his own world.

Addyson was super photogenic, posing at every opportunity!

For some reason this is my fave. Aubryee shed her tutu and was running around with her diaper and cowgirl boots. LOVE IT!

Carter & Claire!

Carter & Claire are back and have grown like crazy! We did this shoot for Claire's 1st birthday pictures, snuck in a few of Carter. And got a few of them together. We hit all the great spots down at Valley Junction. I also designed Claire's 1st birthday invitations!

Extended Family!

Sam & Olivia (in a previous post) were back for extended family photos! We stuck close to home and did this session outside the Gortz Haus. I'm in love with the orange door and it was just the splash of color needed for this photo. Perfect backdrop!

Michael's Newborn Session

I love an alert newborn! Michael was wide awake for our whole session. It's not often that you get eyes wide open. He was a little poser, hanging out in the basket with 1 arm stretched high looking directly at the camera. And holding his toes perfectly still for the ring shoots.

Brody!

Brody is such a cute kid! We went to Waterworks Park for this shoot. The flowers there are amazing and the water fountain is really cool. We had a bright sunny day which is a challenge for photos, but we made it work. Brody's smile is irresistible!

Family

If you've been following my blog you'll probably recognise Kaitlyn. I did her senior session back in June. Mom scheduled a long-overdue family session and we finally had a beautiful day to squeeze it in before the oldest went off to college. I think they are Christmas card ready!

Family Photo at Waterworks Park

Waterworks Park is a great location for photos. There are endless options. This might be a better for "weekday" sessions because of how wide-spread everything is. You have to drive to different locations because the park is so huge. And there are usually weddings at the fountain & flower area. And there isn't a lot of shade in that area too. So unless you have the perfect overcast day it can be a challenge.

Urban Shoot

My running theme this week is RAIN! We almost got rained out at this shoot. Just as we started getting ourselves situated it started pouring down. We ran to ours cars and waited it out for about 10 minutes. Luckily it was a short shower and we were back in business. Mom was very discouraged as she hasn't had their photos done in a LONG time but it all worked out. Look at how cute they all look. What great ages for a shoot like this! I haven't been to the trains for a while and it was a nice change from the park photos.

Alaina!

What is with this weather???!!! I did this shoot last Friday in the rain, wind, and fall-like weather. Alaina didn't to seem to mind she was interested in the leaves blowing off the trees and playing with the alligator. Don't you just love the colorful tutu outfit!

Jim & Rachel's Engagement Photos

Jim & Rachel are getting married in Iowa City next spring. We laughed a lot during this shoot which always lightens the mood and makes it much more relaxing. Rachel is a dentist at Grove & Platt Dental Associates in Grimes (which is the BEST dental office around!) They also brought their family with them to the shoot. Their dogs, Drake & Lilly. So we had to include them in some of the photos!

Baby on the Way!

Jennifer & Mike are expecting their 1st child (little girl) in just a few weeks and she wanted to capture "the belly." Something I wish I had done with my first pregnancy. Her belly was absolutely adorable, just a little basketball tucked inside. I will also be doing their engagement photos soon and wedding photos next summer. You'll be seeing lots more of this couple!

Jack 3 months old

I love happy babies! And Jack definitely fit that desciption. He thought everything was funny and smiled non-stop.

Jon & Tina's Wedding

Jon and Tina's wedding was gorgeous. It took place at the Salisbury House. It was an outdoor wedding in the courtyard. Rain was on the way as we started taking photos. We rushed to get as many taken outdoors. There is no flash photography inside the Salisbury house and they rope off the rooms so we were limited on where we could do photos once the rain moved it. We did quite a few under the archways outside which worked out just fine. The rain stopped a few mintues before the ceremony, but started in again just as the bridal party walked down the aisle. Tina was a tropper smiling and keeping it together all the way down the aisle. She's beautiful rain or shine so the rain didn't matter one bit! From the rain, to the music, to Jon's (the groom) cell phone ringing in his pocket during the ceremony it was a day to remember. Congratulations Jon & Tina!
Jon waiting to see Tina for the 1st time!

See I told you she was beautiful!

Jon's cell phone buzzing during the ceremony!

After all that everyone needed a drink!
