Claire 2 1/2 years old!

Claire has a soft, sweet personality and was very quite during our session. But I'm pretty sure I captured that little personality. Look how tender she looks picking flowers, and dipping her feet into the "glass like" lake. It was so still and quite - very similar to Claire.

Grant

Grant was in town from Georgia visiting Grandma. Everyone knows how much grandparents love photos - so she setup the appointment. He was a sleepy boy for the first part of the session and then gave us his serious side once he woke up. He seemed like a good little boy even after all the stimulation we gave him to crack a smile!

Kathleen 's Senior Session

Kathleen wanted a pretty setting. So my first thought was the flower field here in Grimes. The day of Kathleen's session is when I discovered - they mowed the field down! Only the day of Kathleen's session is when I discovered it. So we had to use what was left of the flowers and go with the flow. We also hit the creek & bridge in Grimes.

Brad's Senior Session

Brad will be a 2010 Johnston Graduate. He is my first Johnston senior! The Johnston yearbook requires a "studio-looking" photo. So we setup my pop up backdrop in an alley for really great lighting. I'll let you be the judge... studio-looking enough? (I think so!) Brad is into fishing and the outdoors so his session was perfect at Saylorville.

Out of a magazine...

When this extended family stepped out of their cars I was just thinking to myself... YES! These photos were being taken for a gift for their mom & dad. When we were discussing locations Kirsten told me that they were "artsy", that they liked "different" & "unique" things. I knew right away we couldn't do the park thing. It had to be a urban shoot. Their outfits choices were dead on, and they looked so hip. I felt like I was taking photos for a magazine spread. The girls were rockin'!

Wyatt 6 months olds!

Wyatt is my "monthly" baby, and I can't believe he is already 6 months old. Wyatt is such a trooper. We did this shoot at Grandma's house and she was there to help get those precious smiles. I think it was more of a workout for her but none the less it worked. He thought she was funny - and so did grandpa watching from inside the house!

Travis' Senior Session!

Travis was a natural and made his senior session look effortless. He was very easy going and did exactly what I wanted him too - to look natural and show off that killer smile and blue eyes!

Colorful!

This family hit the nail on the head with the clothing choices. Bright, fun colors! Nothing says summer like these photos. And our location went perfectly. The pagoda downtown is a great backdrop.

I think this is the cutest shot!

Andy's Senior Session

Andy is going to be a DC-G grad. We spent the morning last week in Grimes hitting some photo spots. His mother will be very happy, Andy smiled a lot unprompted... unlike most senior boys ;) And I chose to show those smiles!

Ruby & Kaylee

Can this be any cuter? I LOVE the color & pattern.. and those galoshes make the outfits. These 2 little girls were so giggly and made it so much fun to photograph. We hit the field of wild flowers on time because someone mowed over 95% of them after the shoot! I am in mourning, those fields were so picturesque. I hope they all grow back soon!

Grace & Cade

These 2 came down from Ames just for photos! I have to say I'm flattered that people think so highly of my work that they are traveling here just to have their pictures taken. Grace & Cade were perfect - they chose Valley Junction for the uniqueness and variety. Right now Valley Junction is very colorful. The flowers they have planted look really nice and it's still pretty green. Unlike most areas these days - we need rain! (Overnight please...so it doesn't mess up my schedule!)

Family of 6!

I'm convinced that having 4 dogs is equivalent is having four 18 month olds. Short attention spans, extremely active, minds of their own and chasing them around everywhere. But I was extremely pleased with this shoot. We actually got 4 dogs to sit multiple times and turn their attention to the camera! Wow - an achievement in itself! Mission accomplished!
